Special Care Nursery (SCN)
The SCN at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes is managed and staffed by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia neonatologists. The unit provides specialized care for newborns featuring advanced technology and leading-edge medical therapies including respiratory therapy and nutrition.

Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes delivers 24/7 care for all pediatric and adult emergencies.

A direct-to-bed approach for patient assessments assures that patients are seen in the shortest time possible by the most appropriate health care providers. Patient registration occurs directly at the bedside and all records are electronically generated and archived.

The department works closely with our cardiologists and nurses to ensure cardiac patients receive rapid, appropriate treatment. In addition, Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes is one of the few hospitals in the region conducting electrical cardioversion in the ER for patients with irregular heart rhythms. Patients who have the procedure often are able to return home the same day instead of being admitted to the hospital.
