If you or your doctor suspects you may have vascular disease, you may undergo several tests. These painless, noninvasive tests can determine the presence, location, and severity of the disease. Tests include:

• Duplex ultrasound, measuring the speed and direction of blood flow
• Ankle-brachial index, localizing the location of a blockage in the arm or leg

• Sclerotherapy: An injection of a solution directly into a spider or varicose vein, causing it to fade from view
• Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)/Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA): Different types of energy are used to seal off and treat larger larger varicose veins
• Ambulatory Microphlebectomy: A technique for treating varicose veins that removes the faulty vein through a series of tiny incisions
