Newsweek Recognizes 18 Virtua Health Ambulatory Surgery Centers
October 16, 2024 - Joint-Venture ASCs Earn Distinction in National Ranking
Newsweek has announced its list of the best ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) in the nation for 2025, and 18 of Virtua’s joint-venture ASCs are included. This is a notable increase from the year before, when 14 Virtua ASCs made the list.
ASCs offer the convenience of quicker procedures in an outpatient setting. ASCs provide streamlined care focusing on efficiency and patient comfort. Newsweek considers them to be “a cornerstone of modern health care.”
Newsweek analyzed 5,000 ASCs, and 650 made the list. Virtua is affiliated with 16 of the 30 ASCs representing New Jersey – more than half. The remaining two Virtua ASCs are located in Delaware and Pennsylvania.
Scoring is based on quality of care, performance data, patient experience, and peer recommendations. This year, the list also highlights ASC specialty facilities in orthopedics, ophthalmology, and gastroenterology, such as Burlington County Endoscopy Center (Lumberton) and Campus Eye Group (Hamilton).
“The tremendous growth of ASCs over the past several years is evidence of patients’ preference for same-day outpatient procedures and the enhanced capacity of ASCs to provide them, said Barry Graf, senior vice president of partnerships and business development at Virtua Health. “Having so many of Virtua’s joint-venture ASCs make the Newsweek list speaks to our commitment to quality care and outcomes.”
For the fifth consecutive year, Newsweek collaborated with Statista, a global research firm, to determine America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers. Statista’s goal is to assist people in making informed health care decisions when choosing from the thousands of ASCs across the country.
